Getting Started with Spring Cloud for Open Source Spring Boot Project

As developers, we're always looking for ways to streamline our workflow and integrate our projects with cloud services seamlessly. In this two-part tutorial, we'll demonstrate how easy it is to get started with Spring Boot and Amazon Web Services (AWS) using Spring Cloud for AWS.

What You Need to Know

Before diving into the tutorial, you should have a basic understanding of Java and some experience with Spring Boot. Additionally, familiarity with Amazon S3 and SQS is a plus.

Prerequisites

For this project, you'll need:

* An S3 bucket with publicly accessible content

* A notification configuration to send events on each file upload to an SQS queue that your application is subscribed to

Setting Up Spring Cloud for AWS

Spring Cloud for AWS is a sub-project of Spring that supports rapid development for cloud-native applications. It integrates AWS services and provides auto-configuration with convention over configuration.

In this tutorial, we'll develop a demo application that integrates with Amazon S3 and SQS using Spring Cloud for AWS. We'll show you how to display content from an S3 bucket with Thymeleaf in Part 1, and subscribe to an SQS queue and externalize the configuration of our application using the Parameter Store of AWS Systems Manager in Part 2.
